Cotton nonwoven is common in world market where as it is non-existent in India. Recently, Welspun Industries introduced cotton spunlace nonwoven in market (during ITMA 2019). Cotton nonwoven bonded by adhesive of lower-grade and lower gsm is used in embroidery backing.

But the target product suggested here is needle punched/chemical bonded nonwoven of higher grade. There are very high potential applications in domestic as well as in export market.

Today, due to biodegradability concerns, consumers want products from natural fibers. There is also a growing awareness about recycling and sustainable production. The products made of recycled fibers are well accepted in the market and branded companies are aiming at such development.

Recycled cotton fiber obtained from yarn or fabric wastes, trims, etc. can be converted to fiber. The fiber droppings in spinning mills can also be used here. Depending on the fiber length either they can be used at 100% or in blend with virgin fibers and converted into nonwoven. Wherever necessary the fiber can be bleached or dyed to manufacture white or coloured nonwoven. Nonwoven from denim trims is fast catching up in the global market.

Applications are unique and the details will be provided upon request.A wide range of commercially viable products are identified and have great market potential. It has excellent profit margin and investment is also less.
